Week 7 Courses (April 25 - May 1)

Week7: The Design Thinking Process IV
Usability testing.
- Usability Test Demo by Steve Krug - 24 minutes
  
  A 3 question test here.
Assignment: Create a design pitch deck building on your past work for World Citizen including a usability test report.

Week 6 Courses (April 18 - 24)

The Designing Thinking Process III
Different fidelity prototypes are discussed along with usability principles.
Assignment: Build both a low-fi and high-fi prototype for the World Citizen project you have been working on.

Week 5 Courses (April 11 - 17)

The Design Thinking Process II Ideation, low-fidelity prototypes, brainstorming, journey maps and design sketches.
- Creating thinking - how to get out of the box and generate ideas (TED) - 15 minutes
- Mobile Application Desing - Paper Prototype - 1 minute
Assignment 1: List of ideas from pain points identified. List of actors and ideas. Priortization grid for each actor. Submit as slide presentation.

Assignment 2: Feature list, user flow diagram, User journey map, and comprehensive sketch. Submit as Google Slides.

Week 4 Courses (April 4 - 10)

The Design Thinking Process
- Live Session - Design Process and User Research - 32 minutes - Monday, April 5th 1pm PDT (4pm EDT).
Assignment: After completing the Design Process session, write an inteview script for a clothing donation platform/site.
- Live Session - Empathy Process - 50 minutes - Tuesday, April 6 1pm PDT (4pm EDT).
Assignment: Interview 5 potential users using your previously written script (use video interviews, please and/or social distancing).
- Live Session - Define stage - April 8, 1pm PDT (4pm EDT).
Assignment: Develop a combined Empathy Map on a Micro canvas and identify pain points. Upload your shared Slide deck (due Saturday, April 10).

Week 3 Courses (March 28 - April 3)

Elements and Principles of Good Design
This week’s course combines reading assignments with several videos to watch.
- Colors and Shapes - 23 minutes - Multiple choice quiz.
- Typography - 27 minutes - Multiple choice quiz.
  
  Quiz - 3 questions.
  
  Assignment: Use Figma to correct design principles is sample file.
- Imagery- 6 minutes
- Negative Space and White Space - 9 minutes - Multiple choice quiz.
- Iconography - 8 minutes
- Design Principles 101 - 3 minutes
Assignment: Download Evernote and Google Keep. Compare and record your obsevations on the provided template and submit via Google Docs link.
Introduction to Cloud Computing
Note that the test may require doing some independent research to answer all the questions. Feel free to use Google to help.

Week 2 Courses (March 21 - 27)

This week participants begin working with the Learning Managment System (LMS).

Introduction to UI/UX Design.
This course describes what UI/UX is and what designers do. There are several reading assignments given. There is also an explanation of career paths in the UI/UX space.

Assignment: Design a simple self-profile card.
